Wau Police: 103 Youths Involved in Criminal Activities Transferred to Juba

Wau: Al-Wadi Newspaper

The police in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have confirmed the forced transfer of 103 young men to the capital, Juba, on Monday, due to their alleged involvement in criminal activities.

According to the spokesperson of the Western Bahr el Ghazal State Police, the young men were said to pose a serious threat to the local community, having committed various crimes as part of gang groups operating within Wau town.

Since last month, the state authorities launched a strict crackdown on gangs engaged in unlawful activities in the city. The campaign led to the arrest of several young men who were reportedly found braiding their hair and wearing baggy clothing—a style the authorities associate with gang culture.

Police reported that the suspects face allegations including terrorizing residents, theft, violent clashes, and the rape of underage girls, among other serious offenses.

The group has been forcibly relocated to Juba as part of a rehabilitation effort aimed at deterring further criminal behavior and reintegrating the youths into society.
