Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Discusses Agricultural Renaissance with Minister of Agriculture

Vice President and Head of the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, held a strategic meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, and Deputy Minister Lily Albino Akol to map out a roadmap for a national agricultural renaissance.

The discussions focused on the upcoming National Agriculture Conference and the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of Agriculture”, which is expected to serve as a launching point for achieving food security, boosting economic resilience, and fostering inclusive prosperity across South Sudan.

The meeting also reviewed the country’s preparedness for the 2025 farming season, with an emphasis on the timely and effective distribution of agricultural inputs and machinery.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of several new tractors, which are set to be deployed soon to key agricultural zones to support farming operations and increase productivity.
