National Communication Authority Explores Organizing a Workshop to Approve National Media and Communication Strategy

The National Communication Authority (NCA), chaired by the Minister of ICT and Postal Services, Michael Makuei Lueth, convened its 10th leadership meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister, Gen. David Yau Yau, the two Undersecretaries for the Telecommunications and Information sectors, the Information Commission, as well as heads of major public institutions including the NCA, South Sudan Media Authority (MA), South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC TV), and the Universal Service Access Fund (USAF).

Also in attendance were the Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons of the boards of directors of the NCA, the Media Authority, and SSBC.

The meeting discussed organizing a stakeholder validation workshop to adopt a Media and Communication Strategy for the upcoming general elections, with participation from government institutions, civil society representatives, and development partners.

The workshop aims to:

  • Provide stakeholders with the opportunity to propose suggestions for improving the strategy’s effectiveness,
  • Identify existing gaps and broaden participation,
  • Ensure diversity of perspectives and enhance transparency in the planning process.

The leadership meeting reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation and transparency, and stressed the importance of unifying national efforts in preparation for the upcoming elections by involving various stakeholders in media planning and ensuring effective communication of electoral messages to all citizens.
