The Academic Staff Association and Workers Trade Union of the University of Bahr el Ghazal has announced a partial cessation of their strike, six months after receiving their March 2025.
This decision follows months of protest, as employees continued to demand the payment of unpaid pay cheques.
In an exclusive interview with Eye Radio, Joseph Lual Dario, the Academic Staff Association’s chairperson, confirmed the strike’s partial suspension.
However, Dario made it clear that the walkout would restart if their demands were not completely addressed.
This partial lifting of the strike is only temporary We are still waiting for the payment of 11 months arrears, which accumulated from April 202416 February 2025,

The Academic Staff Association is seeking for the modification of the late to reflect the current inflation rate established by the Central Bank of South Sudan. According to Dario, this modification is critical for guaranteeing that salaries are in line with the country’s economic state.
Dario spoke with Eye Radio from Wau town this morning, emphasizing the seriousness of their demands.
He stressed that they will not accept anything less than full compensations.
