Al-Merrikh Surpasses Simba in Konyokonyo League

Al-Merrikh overcame their rival Simba with a 3-2 victory in the final match of the 18th round of the local First Division League in Juba, played yesterday afternoon at Buluk Playground.

The first half ended in a goalless draw between the two teams.

Al-Merrikh’s goals were scored by Sabet, who netted twice—once in the 54th minute from a penalty kick and again in the first minute of stoppage time. Joseph added the third goal in the 74th minute.

Simba’s goals came from Senegalese professional Gomez, who scored from a penalty in the 62nd minute, and Luki, who found the net in the 71st minute.

The first-round match between the two teams had ended with a decisive 3-0 victory for Simba.

With this result, Al-Merrikh raised their tally to 21 points, climbing to seventh place in the standings, while Simba remained at 19 points, occupying the eighth position.

The 19th round of the league will kick off the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12, with a match between Citizen and Gudele, set to take place in the afternoon at Buluk Playground.
