Juba: Alnaeim Mubarak Kuol

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) will launch its campaign under the slogan #Peace_Begins_With_Me on the 13th of this month, continuing for one full year.

The campaign aims to strengthen efforts by all South Sudanese people to build solid foundations for sustainable peace, democracy, and development, empowering individuals to understand that every action, no matter how small, contributes to driving momentum towards lasting peace.

The campaign will simultaneously launch in Juba, Central Equatoria; Yambio, Western Equatoria; and Renk, Upper Nile, on the same day as World Radio Day. It will then be gradually implemented across all states of South Sudan.

Nicholas Haysom, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMISS, stated: “The ‘Peace Begins with Me’ campaign celebrates South Sudan’s diversity, fosters a shared national identity, and ensures that every voice is heard as the country heads toward its first elections.” He added: “It is also part of our ongoing support to all stakeholders in their efforts to end the conflict and build a better future together.”

There will be live broadcasts of the events in Yambio and Renk via Radio Miraya. In Juba, the launch of the campaign will be highlighted by special programming on Radio Miraya FM. The campaign will also be featured on UNMISS’s social media platforms.
