In a surprising development, the board of directors of Al-Merrikh Bentiu has decided to part ways with team manager Ahmed Simon, interim coach Richard Justin, assistant coach John Chai, club registrar Mahoth Maker, and sporting director Maliah Kuol.
The club announced these decisions through its official Facebook page following an extraordinary board meeting held yesterday.
The statement, signed by club secretary Wali Wunow emphasized that these decisions were made in the best interest of the club as part of ongoing restructuring efforts aimed at strengthening the team and ensuring future success.

The statement added: “We express our gratitude to the mentioned individuals for their services and contributions to Al-Merrikh during their tenure. The club remains committed to building a strong and competitive team.” It further acknowledged their time with the club and expressed appreciation for the continued support from the fans as the club moves forward. The statement also confirmed that new appointments for these positions will be announced in due course.
However, no mention was made regarding the appointment of a new head coach to replace the former one.
Reports and several sources have linked these changes to the club’s plans to hire Sudanese Al-Merrikh assistant coach Ibrahim Hussein, known as Ibrahoma, who is expected to arrive in the country in the coming days along with his staff.
It is worth noting that former South Sudan international Richard Justin was appointed as interim coach last month, replacing Edmond Hassan, who left the club after several months. This was Justin’s second tenure with Al-Merrikh.
