Manawa Deng Resigns as Head Coach of Wajuma Club

Al-Wadi: Arop Jongchol

Manawa Deng has unexpectedly resigned from his position as the head coach of Wajuma Aweil. The club’s management initially refused to part ways with him, but his insistence led the team to start searching for a replacement as soon as possible.

Deng expressed his desire to leave the club on January 30, following a defeat against Al-Salam in the Aweil derby during the seventh round of the Premier League.

In a statement to Al-Wadi, Deng explained that he submitted his resignation for the best interest of the club, without providing further details.

The coach, who holds an African “B” coaching license, joined Wajuma as head coach before the launch of the inaugural edition of the South Sudan Premier League.

Wajuma has since signed a six-month contract with Amarat United’s coach, William Mayor, as Deng’s successor. However, no additional details were disclosed.

So far, Wajuma has played eight matches in the South Sudan Premier League, securing three wins, four losses, and one draw, with one game postponed. The team currently sits in eighth place on the league table with 10 points.
