The Government of South Sudan launched a wide-scale polio vaccination campaign across the country this week.
The goal of this campaign is to vaccinate 3.4 million children, from birth to 59 months of age, against the poliovirus using the oral polio vaccine type 2.
The World Health Organization (WHO) South Sudan wrote on Facebook that the campaign is ongoing with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in collaboration with partners such as WHO, the Republic of South Sudan, UNICEF, and others.
The organization posted images of the field team receiving guidance and vaccinating children in one of the states of South Sudan.
