Juba: Athom Garang

Local authorities in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan, have reported that two men traveling between the Ezo and Source Yubo areas have disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Dominic Elia Osini, the state’s Minister of Information, told journalists that the two men had visited Source Yubo but vanished on their way back home.

He clarified that the government is working tirelessly to determine what happened and identify those responsible for the disappearance of the two men.

According to the authorities, one of the men has been identified as Wilson Elias Baraketi, while the other remains unidentified.

The Minister of Information condemned the disappearance and urged the local community to work together to uncover what happened and bring the missing men back.

Simon, Baraketi’s brother, told Radio Tamazuj that his brother had traveled to Yambio, then to Source Yubo for medical treatment, where he stayed for three days. He called them on August 6 and informed them that he would return home via the Izo area. Since then, he has been missing.

Wilson Baraketi works as an Air Operations Assistant with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Juba. He was traveling on a “Boda Boda” motorcycle, according to reports.

His brother mentioned that Wilson was last seen on the road between Source Yubo and Ezo. “We reported the incident to the police, the National Security Service, and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Unfortunately, we have not received any updates, and we are appealing to the Western Equatoria State Government for help”, He added.
