
Juba: Al-Naeem Mubarak Koul
Governor of Unity State, Judge Riek Bim Top, received members of the South Sudan Bar Association at his office in Juba to discuss enhancing legal aid services in the state.
Lawyer Arop Malouth, President of the South Sudan Bar Association, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic for appointing Judge Riek Bim to the position to serve the citizens of the state. He said: “Our goal in supporting the administrators is to empower emerging lawyers and participate in the development of the rule of law and the fundamental human rights that must be upheld in the country.”
Lawyer Saaman Choudier, Legal Advisor to the Unity State Government, affirmed that “The state government is committed to supportive collaboration with this legal aid services association, and its operations will be of great importance in separating legal activities from ordinary activities.”
Judge Riek Bim Top expressed his appreciation for the offers and expected efforts, stating: “There is a need to promote the legal profession, and we need to administer justice. We must ensure that there is no absence of the rule of law. My administration is committed to continuous cooperation with all legal service providers.”
The objective of this strategic discussion was to create a roadmap for the legal bodies and professionals in the state to facilitate the resolution of pending criminal cases awaiting adjudication.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation from the Bar Association presented a gift to Judge Riek Bim in recognition and appreciation for his efforts in resolving long-standing issues in the state during his brief tenure.
