Warap State Police: Arrest of a Sergeant in Western Gogrial County

The police in Gogrial County arrested a 48-year-old sergeant from the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) after a hand grenade explosion injured an 11-year-old boy in Mabor Kot village, in Western Gogrial County.
The explosion occurred around 3:30 PM on Sunday, and the police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

National police spokesperson Colonel John Kasara Kuang Nyiel said, “The grenade belonged to the suspect.” He confirmed that the boy, whose name has not been disclosed, was injured in the explosion.
Nyiel stated: “The explosion caused injuries to an 11-year-old boy.”
“He was immediately referred to Torali Hospital for medical treatment. The severity of his injuries has not yet been confirmed, but he is currently receiving care.”

The incident has caused panic among local residents regarding the presence of unexploded ordnance in the area. Local officials have urged the community to remain vigilant, as unexploded munitions still pose a danger in some areas.
