Bright Stars’ Jounior achieves a perfect score in Cecafa

Our U-17 national football team achieved its second victory in Group B of the East and Central African Football Association (Cecafa) qualifiers. After winning by a single goal against their Sudanese counterpart.

Lazarus Peter scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute.

The team had started its journey in these qualifiers by beating the defending champions Somalia with a clean three-goal victory in the opening match of the tournament.

With this result, our junior national team topped Group B with 6 points and secured their qualification to the semi-finals of the tournament. Sudan and Somalia will look to secure the second ticket when they meet in the final match of the second qualifying group.

The qualifiers, which will be hosted by Uganda from 15-27 December, will qualify for the Junior African Nations finals. The champions and runners-up of this tournament qualify for the African finals next year.

Somalia are the reigning champions of this competition, having beaten South Sudan 3/1 in the final held the year before last in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
