Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Commends Chinese Support

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Albino Akol Atak, received the food assistance provided by China to South Sudan.
Minister Akol acknowledged the support provided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, stating: “On November 29, 2024, I witnessed the arrival of humanitarian aid from the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, which included food donations consisting of 500 tons of wheat and 480 tons of rice.”


The Government of the People’s Republic of China has continued to assist the Government of South Sudan over several years, both in developmental projects and humanitarian support. Earlier this year, specifically on January 6, 2024, the Chinese government donated more than 20,000 tents to support returnees and internally displaced persons across the country.
“On behalf of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit, I would like to express our deep gratitude for this generous donation of 19,600 bags of rice and wheat, which will assist citizens affected by national disasters and Sudanese conflicts.”


For his part, the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E. Ma Qiang, expressed that South Sudan’s economy and citizens’ livelihoods are facing severe challenges due to the impacts of flooding and disruptions in oil production.
The Chinese Ambassador officially announced that China is today delivering 980 tons of rice and wheat to support those affected by the Sudanese crises and the impacts of climate change.
