Finance Minister Discusses Economic Cooperation with the International Monetary Fund

The Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, met with the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for East Africa Group 3, Mr. Regis O. N’Sonde. Also present at the meeting was the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Mr. Johnny Ohisa.

The meeting discussed the economic cooperation between the country and the International Monetary Fund and reviewed the programs supported by the IMF in South Sudan. It also addressed the progress made with the IMF in October during the annual meeting regarding South Sudan’s efforts to secure additional funding to address economic shocks caused by climatic conditions and the adverse effects of the conflict in Sudan, which led to the halting of oil exports and the influx of refugees.
