Publication of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Dinka Language in Warrap

UNMISS / Warrap
Warrap State celebrated the 76th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with support from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in the state. The message was translated into the Dinka language, which allowed the declaration on equality to reach a larger number of local citizens for the first time.
Discussions with youth, women, and community leaders revealed numerous human rights violations, including early and forced marriages, limited access to education, and the repeated exclusion of women and youth from decision-making processes.
Youth in the region called for intensified efforts to raise awareness about human rights and to enhance cooperation among stakeholders in this field.
The attendees agreed that educating children, especially girls, has the potential to transform families and break the cycle of inequality.”
