First Vice President Receives Update on ICRC Activities in Upper Nile State

The First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, today received Mr. Erik Daniel Bunnskog, Head of Operations for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Sudan, in his office.

The meeting discussed recent developments regarding the ICRC’s medical team in Renk County, Upper Nile State, which is currently providing surgical care for individuals who have arrived in Renk after being wounded in the recent clashes in neighboring Sudan.

Mr. Bunnskog outlined to the media the ICRC’s plans to expand its medical team in Renk in response to the rising number of patients.

He emphasized the collaborative efforts being made by the organization with the Renk Hospital administration and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Belgium to ensure the provision of necessary medical services to those in need.
