The Governor of Unity State, Judge Riek Bim Top, received a detailed briefing from the management of the GPOC oil fields and the security sector team regarding the challenges currently facing the oil company. Several key issues were highlighted during the discussion, including security threats, with the team reviewing the increasing security risks at the site, such as sabotage and theft that disrupt operations.
The meeting also discussed community relations and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with local communities, as these communities reside near the oil wells.
Governor of Unity State, Judge Riek Bim Top, stated that the local government is always keen to monitor compliance areas and regulations, as well as control obstacles that could hinder the company’s daily operations.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Rubkona County, the Military Area Commander, the State Police Commissioner, local government officials, and security personnel responsible for securing the oil production fields, along with engineers and administrators from the GPOC working in oil exploration in northern Unity State.
