The Syrian President and His Family Granted Asylum in Moscow

Citing media sources, it has been reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family have arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow, and have been granted asylum by the Russian authorities.

The Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source: “Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has arrived in Moscow. Russia has granted him and his family asylum for humanitarian reasons.”

The Syrian opposition, known as the Syrian National Coalition, which brought down the Assad regime, is preparing to form a transitional governing body with executive powers to manage operations following the fall of this regime.
