Senior UN Official Arrives in Juba to Attend Nicholas Haysom Memorial and Support Peace Efforts

The Government of South Sudan today received a high-level United Nations official upon his arrival in the capital, Juba, to attend a memorial service honoring one of the country’s most prominent contributors to the peace process.

At Juba International Airport, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal, along with the UN Deputy Special Representative, Ms. Anita Kiki Gbeho, welcomed the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix.

Mr. Lacroix is visiting South Sudan to participate in the memorial service of the late Nicholas Haysom, in recognition of his significant contributions to advancing peace efforts and promoting stability in the country.

The visit underscores the United Nations’ continued commitment to supporting South Sudan in its pursuit of lasting peace and stability.
