US President Supports the Construction of a Railway Linking Angola to Neighboring Countries

The choice of Angola as the destination for President Biden’s first and only visit to Africa during his presidency is noteworthy and represents a significant improvement in relations between the two countries.
US President Joe Biden entered negotiations with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
The US President expressed his pride in being the first American president to visit Angola.


Discussions between the two leaders at the presidential palace in Luanda, the capital, focused on security and trade.
#The US government is supporting a major railway project spanning 1,300 kilometers (810 miles), which will connect a port in Angola to mining regions in Zambia and the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to some commentators, the United States seeks to challenge China’s influence in Africa by focusing more on trade and investment on the continent, including Biden’s visit to oil-rich Angola.
