The President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, met with the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, where they discussed ways to enhance regional peace and stability through constructive dialogue and mutual cooperation.
In a statement following the meeting, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Majak Philemon Majok, stated that the discussions between the two leaders focused on issues of mutual interest between the two countries, including the resumption of oil flow, economic cooperation, border security, cultural exchange, and other national matters.
The Undersecretary of Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein El-amin, said that President Al-Burhan briefed President Kiir on the current situation in Sudan amidst the ongoing war.
The two leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to restoring regional peace and stability, emphasizing joint efforts to resolve the ongoing Sudanese crisis through dialogue and diplomacy, which they consider the only way to end conflicts and wars globally.
Since April 15 of last year, Sudan has witnessed violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. These clashes have led to the displacement and displacement of thousands of civilians from their homes in the capital and some states, which are now under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.
