The First Vice President of the Republic discusses issues of mutual interest with the U.S. Ambassador

The First Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, met with the U.S. Ambassador to South Sudan, Mr. Michael J. Adler, this morning at his office.
The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest, with the discussions focusing on several topics, including the decisions made at the Eighth Forum of State Governors, which recently concluded in Juba. The Ambassador was briefed on the Revitalized Peace Agreement of 2018 and the ongoing Tomeni Initiative in Nairobi, Kenya.


The meeting also addressed the ongoing war in Sudan and the importance of reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
In his statements to the media after the meeting, the U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed his government’s position in prioritizing peace. He reiterated the U.S. government’s call for all South Sudanese, whether signatories or non-signatories to the agreement, to fully engage in the ongoing talks in Nairobi to achieve sustainable peace in South Sudan.
