Madang Achueng is the champion of the South Sudan Local Cup in Abyei

Madang Achueng team won the South Sudan Local Cup in Abyei for this season, after winning 4/3 on penalties against their rivals and defending champions Abyei Super Eagle team after a positive draw with a goal each. Yesterday afternoon at the Mulmul Playground in Abyei.

In the first half, the defending champions Abyei Super Eagle scored the first goal in the 15th minute of the first half.

In the second half, Madang Achueng scored the equalizer in the 50th minute through Garang. The referee showed a red card to Abyei coach Super Eagle for repeatedly protesting the referee’s decisions.

The game continued without either team scoring another goal, and the referee announced the end of the match as a goalless draw between the two teams. The two teams went to a penalty shootout. Madang Achueng won by 4 kicks to 3 to claim the title.

Madang Achueng’s players took home all the awards for the tournament. Their goalkeeper and captain Deng Mathi won the best goalkeeper of the tournament, followed by Garang Deng as the top scorer of the tournament. March Nyol was named the best player of the tournament.

The team will participate in the South Sudan National Cup this season representing the Abyei Local Football Association.
