Rumbek: DERAWETNEWS
Lake State has officially signed the establishment of a multi-sectoral coordination mechanism for One Health, becoming the sixth state in South Sudan to join this initiative supported by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The initiative aims to enhance collaboration among various health sectors to facilitate comprehensive handling of health issues across the country. This is achieved through integrating resources, sharing expertise, and exchanging information across different fields. Additionally, the initiative seeks to promote a holistic approach to health, recognizing the interconnectedness between humans, animals, and the environment.
According to the website of the WHO South Sudan office, a workshop was held in Rumbek for health actors, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The workshop included discussions on the potential benefits of this cooperation and plans to effectively implement the One Health mechanism in the state.
