The Unity State Ministry of Health has announced significant progress in the quality of health services across the state, marking a major milestone after years of conflict and devastating floods that had severely impacted the health sector.
Acting Director General Tut Jal attributed the improvement to proactive measures taken by the State Government to address challenges posed by climate change and conflict. These measures include relocating flood-affected health facilities to higher, safer ground and constructing protective dykes around health centers to safeguard them from future floods.
Jal explained that these efforts are part of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP), a government-led initiative funded by the World Bank and several international partners, aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare and improving services for communities affected by displacement.
Observers have described this development as a new beacon of hope for the people of Unity State, emphasizing that the experience demonstrates how essential public services can be rebuilt and strengthened even under difficult environmental and humanitarian conditions.
