The Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan, Jemma Nunu Kumba, has arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, heading her country’s delegation to participate in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is a global organization that brings together parliaments from around the world to discuss international issues, promote democracy, and foster peace through dialogue and cooperation. It is widely regarded as the parliamentary equivalent of the United Nations General Assembly.

In a post on her official Facebook page, Kumba stated that she had the honor of attending the 40th Session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, a platform that gathers female legislators from around the world to exchange experiences and advocate for stronger representation and gender equality in parliaments.
During the session, a global campaign for gender parity was launched, calling on parliaments and governments to achieve equal 50:50 representation between men and women, through a 10-point system designed to promote fairness and equality in political participation and decision-making.
