Indian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) organized a specialized veterinary training course on the management and treatment of animal diseases in the city of Bor, Jonglei State.
The course targeted 30 animal health workers, aiming to enhance their skills and equip them with the necessary expertise to maintain livestock health. This, in turn, contributes to improving food security and achieving sustainable economic benefits for local communities.

This initiative comes as part of the UN mission’s “Peace Begins With” program, which emphasizes the importance of health, social, and economic factors as key pillars for achieving lasting peace in South Sudan. The mission believes that animal health—being a central element of daily life for many communities—is a vital entry point for building a more stable and prosperous society.
These efforts reflect the United Nations’ and its international partners’ commitment to supporting local communities in practical ways that strengthen resilience and promote peace from the ground up.
