The Presidency in South Sudan has called for a speedy conclusion of the talks between the government and opposition holdout groups in Nairobi, through reaching a consensus on the ongoing Tumaini Peace Initiative there.
Key political leaders in the country from various parties emphasized the necessity of finding a comprehensive solution to the ongoing political crisis.
They affirmed that political stability and the implementation of economic reforms are crucial for recovery, especially as South Sudan prepares for its first democratic elections.

Following the meeting on peace held at the Presidential Palace, Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime, stated that the meeting, which brought together key figures from political parties, stressed the need for a united front to address the challenges facing South Sudan.
Tut added that the meeting decided that negotiators should approach the talks with an open mind and a strong commitment to achieving lasting peace for the people.
In a press statement, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the political conflict by ensuring that all voices are heard and involving all parties in the discussions.
President Kiir immediately appointed a 15-member negotiating team, led by Senior Presidential Advisor Kuol Manyang Juuk, tasked with engaging opposition groups to reach an agreement on political stability.
The call for urgent action comes at a time when the people of South Sudan are eager to achieve sustainable peace, and a peaceful resolution is seen as crucial for the country’s future.
