The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, received a detailed briefing today from the Chairperson of the National Transitional Committee (NTC), Hon. Kuol Manyang Juuk, on the progress and ongoing efforts to accelerate the full implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
The briefing focused on current measures to ensure active engagement of all signatory parties and coordinated efforts to address the remaining key provisions of the agreement, which are vital to achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.
Hon. Kuol Manyang highlighted that recent political transitions within several signatory parties have led to strengthened cooperation with new leadership, contributing to a growing consensus around national priorities. These include institutional reforms, inclusive governance, and the full unification of armed forces under the command of the Commander-in-Chief, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Vice President Dr. Bol Mel commended the remarkable work being carried out by the NTC, stressing that the people of South Sudan have waited long enough for peace and deserve to see it realized without further delay.
“Our people deserve peace today, not tomorrow. It is the duty of every leader to fulfill that promise,” the Vice President stated.
He added, “Without peace, there can be no development. Without peace, there is no future. And without peace, we have no country to call our own.”
The National Transitional Committee plays a critical role in driving the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement, a foundational step towards building a stable, inclusive, and united South Sudan.
