The National Communication Authority (NCA) announced via its official social media page the successful conclusion of the 1st Advisory Council Meetings of the East African Communications Organisation (EACO), hosted in Juba from June 11 to 13, 2025, with the participation of official delegations from member states.
The closing day of the meetings featured a significant moment with the official handover of the EACO chairmanship from the outgoing chairman, Dr. Samuel Muhizi of Burundi, to Mr. Gieth Kon Mathiang, Director General of the National Communication Authority of South Sudan. Dr. Muhizi also presented a comprehensive report outlining the organization’s achievements and its future strategic roadmap, adding depth and vision to the final sessions.




The meetings concluded with the adoption of a final communiqué, which included a set of key recommendations, resolutions, and clear commitments from participating countries aimed at enhancing cooperation and advancing the communications sector across the region.
In a related statement, the NCA expressed its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the sponsors and partners who played a pivotal role in the success of this important regional event. These included Digitel South Sudan, Zain South Sudan, MTN South Sudan, Muya Fibre, Liquid Telecom, and Radisson Blu Hotel – Juba. The NCA emphasized that these partnerships were fundamental to ensuring a well-organized event and a high-quality experience for all participants.
The Authority concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in the communications sector and working diligently to position South Sudan as an emerging digital hub at the heart of the East African region.
