UNMISS Visits Mayom to Assess Situation Following Deadly Cattle Raid

As part of its efforts to enhance civilian protection and rebuild trust among local communities, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), accompanied by several humanitarian organizations, conducted a field visit to Mayom in Unity State.

The visit followed a deadly cattle raid that resulted in casualties and the displacement of several civilians. During the visit, the delegation met with local authorities to assess the security and humanitarian situation and explore ways to strengthen stability in the area. The mission reiterated that civilian protection remains a top priority, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among all parties to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and to foster lasting peace in affected communities.
