Upper Nile State Governor Praises Organization of Special Olympics in Malakal

The Governor of Upper Nile State, Lt. Gen. James Koang Chuol, praised the South Sudan Special Olympics games held in the state, commending the event as a powerful tool for fostering unity and cohesion among the people of the nation. He also lauded the efforts made by the National Olympics Committee in organizing the festival.

The event, held at Malakal Stadium, was addressed by Rebecca Joshua Kuaci, Chairperson of the National Olympics Committee, who outlined strategic plans aimed at engaging all youth segments in Olympic activities. She encouraged active participation to help discover and showcase talents, emphasizing the importance of channeling youth energy into meaningful pursuits—echoing the timeless saying, “a sound mind in a sound body.”

The stadium witnessed a vibrant display of talent and Olympic sports, including marathons of various distances, track and field events, and martial arts demonstrations. Several schools from Malakal City participated in the competitions.

The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, where awards were presented to the winners in the various contests.
