The head coach of the national football team, Nicolas Dupuis, has selected the preliminary squad for our national team in preparation for a closed training camp ahead of the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
A total of 31 players have been selected, with most of them playing for local clubs, while six professional players are included in the squad.
The squad consists of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and thirteen forwards.
The Bright Stars are set to play two matches in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Kinshasa and Sudan in Benghazi this March.
South Sudan’s national team competes in Group B alongside Sudan, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Togo, and Mauritania.
The Bright Stars currently sit in fifth place in the group with two points from two draws and two losses. Sudan leads the group standings with 10 points.
