The National women’s football team will host Algeria next Wednesday afternoon at Juba National Stadium in the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The two teams will meet again in Algeria for the return leg, with the winner of the two-legged tie set to face Cameroon in October in the second round. The qualifiers are played in two-legged knockout rounds, home and away.
A total of 38 teams are competing for 12 spots in the final tournament. Six teams, including defending champions South Africa, have received a bye from the first round, alongside Zambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
South Sudan’s women’s team (The Bright Stars) aims to put on a strong performance against Algeria and erase the lackluster image they presented in the last qualifiers. They are seeking a positive result before the return leg in Algeria.
It is worth noting that Morocco will host the next edition of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in 2026 for the third consecutive time.
