President Salva Kiir Mayardit, during the swearing-in ceremony of the two Vice Presidents; Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel for the Economic Cluster and Josephine Lagu for the Service Cluster, called for collective efforts to implement economic reforms, improve service delivery, enhance good governance, and strengthen the government’s economic agenda.
President Kiir acknowledged the economic difficulties facing citizens and instructed the Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. Bol Mel, to implement a strong transformation in the economic sector by diversifying the economy and prioritizing agriculture in an attempt to improve food security.

Vice President Bol Mel expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency the President for the trust he placed in him. He confirmed his determination to serve the nation with loyalty, commitment, and dedication, emphasizing his resolve to work without fear or failure for the benefit of the people of South Sudan and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
Dr. Bol Mel said: “I am committed to advancing our economic agenda and working closely with His Excellency the President to ensure South Sudan secures its rightful place in the region.”
Meanwhile, Josephine Lagu, who took the oath of office under the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) ticket, expressed her deep appreciation to His Excellency the President for the opportunity given to her. She said: “I pledge not to let down the people of South Sudan.”
She highlighted the collective responsibility of both the government and citizens to ensure the provision of basic services and the improvement of living standards across the country.
