The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) South Sudan, in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Youth and Gender, Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior, launched the Women and Youth Leadership Program (WYLP).
The initiative aims to empower educated yet marginalized young men and women by providing career guidance and counseling, internships, coaching and mentorship, on-the-job training, and leadership development.
This initiative seeks to create role models, build career pathways, and open job opportunities for South Sudanese youth. The initiative was launched by Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior. The ceremony was attended by key government officials and development partners.
According to updates from officials, 72% of South Sudan’s population consists of youth who face significant challenges, including limited access to employment and professional development opportunities.
The UNDP reaffirms its commitment to supporting youth and women’s empowerment in South Sudan while working towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals, such as ending poverty, gender equality, and promoting decent work and economic growth.
