Club owners were strongly cautioned by the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) not to allow youngsters to host parties, discos, or social events on their property.
Police Spokesperson Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial made the warning part of a comprehensive security plan for the New Year’s celebrations in Juba on Monday.
He emphasized that law enforcement will keep an eye on compliance to stop illegal gatherings and stated, “The risks and consequences of allowing teenagers to conduct such activities secretly at your premises are serious and will not be tolerated.”
In order to guarantee safety around the country during the New Year’s festivities, the police presented a comprehensive security strategy. Important sites, such as Juba International Airport, will be the focus of the deployment. markets, bridges, churches, public celebration spaces, and key locations like embassies, NGOs, and government buildings.
Col. Kassara said, “Our main goals are to safeguard people and property, maintain security in public celebration spaces, and stop theft or damage to gifts and decorations.”
Additionally, he said, police would collaborate with local law enforcement to respond quickly to security issues, create a safe environment for customers in busy shopping locations, and put policies in place to combat cyberthreats such phishing schemes that target online shoppers.
The police will perform searches at specified entries to improve security at celebration locations. “All procedures will respect human dignity and rights, and searches for women will be conducted by female police personnel,” Col. Kassara promised.
He described the security situation from December 26 to 30 as “relatively calm and stable” across the country, with stable roadways and linking routes.
He did, however, report certain rare criminal events, such as domestic violence in Warrap State’s Kuajok Town, where a 31-year-old housewife was beaten to death by her husband in Gumel-Ayok-Thok hamlet, with the offender captured.
A 20-year-old male was assaulted and stabbed to death in the Lologo residential sector of Wau Town, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and the suspect is in jail. A 12-year-old girl was defiled in Majook-yien-thiou of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State’s Aweil East County. The culprit has been detained, and the victim is receiving medical attention.
In Upper Nile State’s Maban County, two different events occurred: a foreign national was shot by an unidentified culprit, and a wife was accidentally shot by her husband in the Maban Refugee Camp.
On December 23, 10 deportees from South Sudan arrived at Juba International Airport. Col. Kassara stated that they had no criminal records and were reunited with their families.
He underlined the police’s commitment to ensuring a calm and secure New Year’s celebration, and urged civilians to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activity.
“Our forces are ready to respond to any security incident without delay and provide any necessary humanitarian assistance,” the commander stated.
