Report: Al-Naeim Mubarak Kuol
In his Christmas address, President Salva Kiir promised the people of South Sudan safety and urged them to unite and commit jointly to a peaceful South Sudan as they approach the year 2025.
Christmas is one of the most important religious holidays in South Sudan, a time for families to come together, share meals, exchange gifts, and express gratitude to God for His love for all people.
Families across the country celebrated the occasion amidst difficult times due to severe economic and humanitarian challenges, in addition to the rapid spread of cholera in some areas. Public sector employees and organized forces have not received their accumulated salary arrears for over 10 months.
Earlier this month, UN agencies warned in a statement of an alarming humanitarian crisis, with more than half of the country’s population in distress.
