More than 400 children had their dreams come true as they celebrated Christmas together in Pibor. They enjoyed an atmosphere filled with love and the exchange of gifts provided by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in collaboration with UNICEF. It was truly a special and exciting Christmas for the children.
Many children worldwide dream of spending Christmas enjoying time with their families and friends, eating delicious food, sharing love, and perhaps even receiving a gift or two from Santa and his busy helpers during the holiday season.
Unfortunately, such joy is not guaranteed for many children across the globe, including in #SouthSudan. For some, the effects of conflicts they had no role in or poverty they did not cause rob them of the festive happiness they deserve.

However, the efforts of UNMISS personnel, in collaboration with UNICEF and Catholic Relief Services, brought joy and smiles to over 400 children aged 4 to 12 from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, giving them a chance to experience the festive season.
Most of these children had never met before and were initially shy. However, after just a short while, they enthusiastically joined in the games and food provided. Strangers became friends, laughing together like old companions, building bridges, forging new bonds and friendships, overcoming ethnic and other barriers, feeling part of something bigger and better, and experiencing a sense of belonging and unity.

Those present, whether children or adults, affirmed that these were unforgettable scenes worth cherishing for a lifetime. These moments of innocent and loving interaction offer older generations a valuable lesson in unity, harmony, and peace.
