Cameroon is the first overseas customer of petroleum from the Dangote plant. Neptune Oil, Central Africa’s largest distributor and retailer, received the first export of 60,000 tons of refined petroleum.
The firm stated that it was collaborating with the refiner to develop ‘a stable supply chain that would help stabilize gasoline costs and opportunities’ throughout the area.
Aliko Dangote intends to export 56% of his entire gasoline production, despite the fact that crude supply issues threaten to disrupt refinery operations.
In September, the 650,000 barrel per day plant began selling gasoline domestically, with Nigeria’s state-owned oil firm serving as the sole buyer.
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has relied largely on imports for local gasoline supplies, but Dangote’s efforts are expected to lessen this dependency and save the government vital cash.
In October, Dangote and the NNPC started a crude-for-gasoline exchange deal that is handled in Naira.
