Deputy Governor of Upper Nile State, Deng Joh Angok, inspected the ongoing maintenance works on the Malakal-Akok-Paloch road.
The road, currently under rehabilitation, is a vital link for the region but had become unusable due to heavy rains and flooding.
Deputy Governor Deng Joh emphasized the importance of rehabilitating the road to facilitate the movement of citizens, boost trade, and ensure access to essential services.

He praised the efforts of the workers and contractors and urged them to expedite the pace of work and repairs to restore connectivity for local communities stranded due to disruptions caused by the rainy season.
The maintenance work is being carried out in collaboration between the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the Upper Nile State Government.
