SSPDF Warning Officers Against Political Interference

The spokesperson for the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), Major General Lul Ruai Koang, has warned army officers and personnel within the organized forces against involvement in politic.

In a press statement broadcast on South Sudan’s state television, Major General Lul highlighted that in recent days, Lieutenant General Garang Akol Ayii, Director of Procurement and Co-chair of the Joint Defence Board (JDB), had expressed serious concerns over the involvement of some officers from the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) in political activities. These officers are currently awaiting the unification of the second echelon of command.

General Lul emphasized that failure to comply with orders and directives would result in disciplinary and punitive measures against those involved, including forfeiture of the opportunity to be integrated into the organized Forces.
