President Salva Kiir Mayardit sent a message of reassurance to the people of South Sudan regarding the state of panic and fear experienced by citizens in the capital, Juba.

Juba: Al-Naeim Mubarak Kuol

President Salva Kiir Mayardit stated that he is addressing the panic and fear that arose on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. He added that the circulating misinformation about tension at the military headquarters is false.

The president affirmed that the situation of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces is stable, and they are performing their national duties effectively alongside other security agencies.

He accused unnamed parties of spreading these rumors, identifying them as beneficiaries of war and instability. He noted that such individuals have no interest in peace and are disappointed that the country has been living in peace since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2018. They spread baseless rumors to instill fear, panic, and uncertainty among citizens.

“As your president, I am here to assure you that our country is safe and secure. I have repeatedly said that our country will not return to war. We will embrace dialogue to resolve our differences.” The president said

He urged citizens to continue their daily activities so that the government, together with the people, can build a beautiful nation.
“Learn to unite against these rumors, and do not take them seriously, as they are mere lies.” He added
