Sudan participated in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meetings, with Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badreddin Abdelati joining the U.S. Secretary of State, the Saudi Foreign Minister, and the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation on the sidelines of the meeting.
Ambassador Tamim Khilaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelati emphasized Egypt’s strong commitment to achieving stability in Sudan, which would enable the Sudanese people to build their country and achieve their aspirations.
Minister Abdelati stressed the importance of maintaining Sudan’s state institutions and respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also emphasized the need for donor countries to fulfill their commitments regarding humanitarian aid to Sudan, which is facing a shortfall of nearly 75% of its needs. He underlined the unfairness of leaving neighboring countries to bear the brunt of Sudan’s humanitarian crisis alone.

Minister Abdelati pointed out the importance of focusing on two key objectives: reaching a ceasefire and enhancing the delivery of humanitarian aid. He expressed concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, which has led to the internal displacement of over 11 million Sudanese citizens and the refugee crisis of more than 3 million Sudanese fleeing to neighboring countries, with Egypt hosting a large number of them.
Dr. Abdelati also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to address the crisis in Sudan on both political and humanitarian levels, highlighting the facilities provided by Egypt to UN agencies and relief organizations to expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to Sudan.
Additionally, Minister Abdelati emphasized Egypt’s hosting of the Sudanese political and civil forces conference in July 2024 to help reach a Sudanese consensus that includes all parties, as well as Egypt’s efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Sudan.
