Juba, March 5, 2026 — The Umbrella of Political Parties (UOPPs) has issued a press statement distancing itself from remarks made by its former chairperson, Mr. Peter Mayen Majongdit, and addressing what it described as misleading claims regarding its internal affairs.
In a statement released under the leadership of Chairperson Hon. Mayen Jeremiah Turich, the coalition clarified that Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro has not interfered in the internal operations of the group, dismissing allegations to the contrary as “misleading and unfounded.”
The coalition further announced that Mr. Majongdit no longer represents the UOPPs. It stated that nine out of its ten member parties have formally disowned him, citing alleged misconduct, abusive behavior, and violations of the coalition’s code of conduct.
According to the statement, the former chairperson is also accused of undermining institutional integrity during his tenure by centralizing decision-making and acting contrary to the principles of collective leadership and accountability.
The UOPPs emphasized that any statements made by Mr. Majongdit should be considered personal opinions and do not reflect the position of the coalition or its member parties.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and pledged continued engagement with stakeholders to promote peace, stability, and national unity. It also urged the public to rely on official communications issued by its recognized leadership.
The statement was signed by Perinho Garang, Secretary for Information and Communication at the UOPPs National Secretariat.
