The Ministry of Information, Communication, and Technology in Unity State has officially resumed the broadcasting of Bentiu Radio FM 99, following a long hiatus. The relaunch was marked by an official ceremony held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Bentiu Town.
The event was presided over by the Governor of Unity State, Hon. Justice Riek Bim Top, and attended by several state ministers, local leaders, and community representatives. Observers described the event as a positive step reflecting the government’s commitment to improving public communication and supporting development and local media.
In his speech, the Governor stated that the reopening of the radio station is part of the state’s broader plan to strengthen media as a tool for development and peacebuilding. He emphasized that the station will play a vital role in raising public awareness and promoting societal values through educational programming on health, education, peace, hygiene, agriculture, and environmental protection.

He further noted that with its new FM 99 frequency, Bentiu Radio will act as a platform for local voices and a bridge to close the information gap, reaffirming his government’s continued support for media institutions as key partners in promoting stability and development.
The Ministry hopes that the station will contribute to shaping a positive media discourse that reflects citizens’ aspirations and promotes a culture of dialogue and unity, especially as Unity State experiences growing development across multiple sectors.
It is worth mentioning that Bentiu Radio had ceased broadcasting earlier this year due to logistical challenges before being restored and re-equipped with the support of the state government and the Ministry of Information.
