MP Stephen Lual Backs MoU with UAE, Hails Strategic Bilateral Ties

Hon. Stephen Lual Ngor, Member of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly for Northern Bahr el Ghazal and member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has reaffirmed his full support for the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement signed with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Hon. Lual described the MoU as a landmark step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation across political, economic, social, and cultural fields. He praised the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for advancing South Sudan’s international partnerships.

He highlighted the visa exemption for ordinary passport holders as a major achievement, enabling easier travel for tourism, medical care, and cultural exchange, while deepening ties between the two nations. The agreement also promotes knowledge transfer and skills development, particularly in finance and technology.

On security, Hon. Lual assured that the agreement includes strong safeguards and information-sharing mechanisms to combat terrorism and human trafficking, ensuring proper use of the visa privileges.

He emphasized the need to finalize the classification of official travel documents to ensure smooth implementation of the agreement and called on the Assembly to adopt the report and recommendations.

Hon. Lual concluded by stating that the MoU marks a transformative moment in South Sudan, UAE relations and opens new avenues for long term strategic cooperation.
