President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, received a detailed report on national health sector priorities presented by the Minister of Health, Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, during a meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Juba.
The report outlined the current state of healthcare in the country, as well as the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve service quality and expand healthcare access. During her presentation, the Minister emphasized that health is not only a national priority but also a matter of national security, stressing the urgent need for increased government investment in this vital sector.
President Kiir welcomed the report and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing the national health system. He pledged full support to the Ministry in its efforts to strengthen healthcare services across the country.
Minister Cleto further informed the President that the recent cholera outbreak in the country has seen a significant decline, attributing the improvement to the coordinated efforts between the Ministry and its partners in the health sector, which contributed to effective containment of the disease.
The meeting reflects the government’s broader strategy to enhance access to healthcare services and improve the nation’s capacity to respond to health crises, ultimately protecting citizens’ lives and supporting sustainable development in South Sudan.
