The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, Ambassador Monday Semia K. Kumba, participated today in a high-level ministerial meeting held in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, alongside his counterparts from regional countries. The meeting was part of the preparations for the 12th Summit of the Regional Oversight Mechanism, scheduled for tomorrow.

The upcoming summit, held under the framework of the Peace, Security, and Cooperation Agreement for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the region, aims to address the root causes of conflict and instability in eastern DRC and to develop a renewed roadmap for sustainable peace.
During the meeting, Ambassador Monday emphasized the importance of regional coordination in confronting security challenges, stressing the need to adopt long-term solutions based on a collective vision that goes beyond temporary measures.

The ministerial discussions covered several critical issues, including:
- Strengthening good governance mechanisms,
- Supporting joint security cooperation among the region’s countries,
- Establishing practical foundations for implementing existing peace agreements,
- Curbing the escalation of violence in border areas.
The recommendations from the ministerial meeting are expected to be presented to the heads of state attending the summit for adoption as official resolutions aimed at halting the deterioration of conditions in the DRC and enhancing regional stability.
This participation reflects South Sudan’s ongoing commitment to supporting regional efforts aimed at establishing peace and strengthening security in the Great Lakes region.
